Closing an excel file shouldn't be a problem, should it?

When I open an excel file, it automatically opens PERSONAL.XLS, which is fine.
The file is NOT hidden, which is fine too. (That's the way I want it)
When I close excel however, PERSONAL.XLS won't close automatically! I have to shut it down separately.

Problem started with Excel 2007 on windows 7
Excel 2007 elsewhere is fine

Anyone know where the "quit" property for this file is? Or how does one make it close automatically with Excel?

Thanks

David

Thanks Aliva! I've kept 'keyontech.com' address. Good site to use when one gets stuck (and I get stuck plenty... :? )

Maybe David has not seen your post?

Hi Aliva

Just got back from a long weekend 2 days ago. Checked the link.
Very good for future reference I must say.
As for my issue, it doesn't appear there.

I use personal.xls all the time and don't bother hiding it
Problem is when I close excel, I have to close personal.xls seperately.

I bypassed the problem by writing a small macro that does the job, with a shortcut "ctrl-q"
But I would like to know why it stopped closing as it used to, with a single click

But thanks for the link anyway, Aliva :D

David
